The Date Mod Classic Purple Roman is one of those dials that makes an immediate impression without shouting. Purple is rare in dress-sport watches and this particular shade — set against Roman numerals — has a quiet formality that works equally well dressed up or down. MedoMods hand-assembles this Seiko mod in Germany in your choice of 36 mm, 39 mm, or 41 mm, making it one of the few purple-dial automatics you can configure to the exact size that suits your wrist.

Movement

The NH35 automatic movement runs the show: hacking seconds for accurate time-setting, hand-winding so you never need to shake the watch to get it going, and a power reserve of around 41 hours. The date advances mechanically at midnight — no battery, no electronics. Choose the exhibition caseback and you get a clear view of the rotor each time you pick the watch up. Choose the solid caseback and the presentation is clean and closed — equally valid depending on what you prefer.

Case, Crystal & Bracelet

Stainless steel case in 36 mm, 39 mm, or 41 mm. Sapphire crystal overhead — scratch-resistant and clear, with Super-LumiNova applied to the hands and indices so the watch stays readable after dark. The screw-down crown and 5 ATM water resistance mean normal daily life — rain, hand-washing, a brief swim — is not an issue. The stainless steel bracelet adjusts to a wide range of wrist sizes and the safety folding clasp keeps it on your wrist securely.

The Purple Roman Combination

Roman numerals are one of the oldest typographic choices in watchmaking, associated with formal timepieces long before Arabic numerals became the default. On a purple dial they shift away from stuffy into something more considered — a dial that has clearly been thought about rather than defaulted to.
