TONA MOD | Blue Rubber Blue Steel - 40mm

All-blue, all-steel: the Tona Mod Blue Rubber Blue Steel is the purist version of the racing chronograph Seiko mod. Where the rose-gold variant warms the palette, this build keeps everything cool and monochromatic — blue dial, blue rubber strap, steel case and subdial accents — and the result is a watch that looks effortlessly considered. The 40 mm 316L stainless steel case wears the tachymeter bezel and three-subdial layout with exactly the right level of sporting seriousness.

Movement

The Seiko VK63 mecha-quartz movement is the standard fitment — and for good reason. Its fully functional chronograph pushers have a crisp, mechanical-feeling action that pure quartz movements rarely match. Start, stop, reset: all three work. The 60-minute counter, 24-hour subdial, and running seconds subdial are all functional in the VK63 configuration. An NH35 automatic option exists for those who prefer the rotor over a battery, but note that the subdials become decorative in that configuration.

Case & Crystal

The 40 mm case is 316L stainless steel throughout, with a case thickness of approximately 12 mm — substantial but not oppressive on the wrist. Sapphire crystal keeps the dial scratch-free and clear in any light. Water resistance is 5 ATM: fine for daily wear and casual water exposure. The bracelet adjusts from approximately 14.5 cm to 22 cm using the included sizing tool.

Dial & Design

The all-blue steel combination gives this Tona variant a motorsport-inspired coherence. There is no colour clash to manage, no warm-cool tension to negotiate — just a unified blue palette across dial, strap, and steel accents. The subdial architecture is clearly laid out, with the pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock giving the case that unmistakably chronograph profile. With Logo or No Logo: your call.

On the Wrist

The blue rubber strap keeps this build comfortable across temperature ranges — it does not stiffen in cold or become slippery in heat the way some straps do. At 40 mm the Tona is sized for wrists that want a presence without bulk. The unified blue palette means this watch pairs surprisingly well with both casual and smart casual dress.
